Perfect Interaction

Task

The preparation plant at Rothensee is on the north-eastern outskirts of Magdeburg, right on the A2 Autobahn junction  (Hanover-Berlin). It has been owned by the Hülskens Barleben company since the beginning of the 1990s. A conveyor line of approx. 3km in length connects the preparation and extraction of sand and gravel in the Rothensee gravel plant. In order to extract the resources as efficiently as possible, in April 2021, STICHWEH delivered the E 6518 H bucket wheel to the Rothensee gravel plant. The STICHWEH bucket wheel will be deployed for the purpose of washing and dewatering sand and gravel and will enhance the complete system that consists of high-quality machines.

Requirement

  • Washing and dewatering of sand and gravel
  • Downstream of the addition of raw materials from a DN 350 mm suction dredger
  • Slurry volume approx. 2,000 m³/h
  • Solids volume approx. 350 - 400 t/h
  • Feed material 0 – X (75/100 mm) estimated

Successful in use

Within the complete system at Rothensee, the STICHWEH bucket wheel dewaters the sand and gravel. The feed mixture, which consists of sand, gravel and water, is delivered by a DN 350 mm suction dredger (manufactured and supplied by World Dredgers BV, a member company of the Hülskens Group), to the bucket wheel. The solids are deposited in the bucket wheel trough and are discharged by the bucket wheel. The interaction between World Dredgers BV (suction dredger) and STICHWEH (bucket wheel) is highly efficient within the complete system at Rothensee while allowing the largest amounts possible of fine sands to be retained and keeping the wear and tear and operating costs extremely low.
