EFFICIENT: SEVERAL MILLION TONS OF GRAVEL EXTRACTION WITH SUCTION DREDGER
AUSTRIA, LANGENKAMPFEN AM INN/TIROL
TASK SITUATION
For the construction of the new hydropower plant on the river Inn it was necessary to extract several millions of gravel by using a suction dredger.
REQUIREMENTS
- Mixture output was approx. 5,000 m3/h
- Solid output 1,500 t/h
- High operational safety
SUCCESSFUL IN USE
Two SMT STICHWEH washing and draining bucket wheels of the E 6514 H series with a wheel diameter of 6,500 mm and a bucket width of 1,400 mm. The driving power is only 18.5 kW per bucket wheel. A fully automatic speed control, regulated by frequency converters, guarantees a uniform filling of the buckets which adapts to the performance of the suction dredger .
The bucket wheels achieve the needed performance with only one revolution per minute. Furthermore the buckets are equipped with a special surface water drain and have specially long suction chambers – thus achieving an optimal drainage.
The such dewatered material is transported on conveyor belts with a slope of 18 degree to the disposal site and/or the processing plant. As the operation continues also in winter at minus 20 degree C, the bucket wheel tubs were particularly insulated.
